Understanding the Selection of Pharma Service Providers in Precision Medicine

Goal:
To understand what biopharma companies in precision medicine and diagnostics are looking for when choosing pharmaceutical service providers.
Key learning’s:
Through a series of carefully crafted questions, we hoped to understand:
- their criteria when selecting laboratory service providers
- how they search and evaluate vendors
- their expectations from a partnership
- their contracting and working experience with providers.
How did we do it?
To collect the data for the report, we performed in-depth interviews (IDIs) with 11 executives within the diagnostic partnership decision-making units of large and medium-sized biopharma companies (73% vs 27%). Most of those interviewed had high-level positions (91% senior-level vs 9% mid-level) including Directors, Executive Directors, Vice Presidents and Chief Medical Officers. This encompassed a broad spectrum of roles in precision medicine and diagnostics within their organisations, including positions in clinical development, partnership formation, business, commercialization and procurement.
